Week ending 25th March 2022

Posted: Mar 25, 2022 by: Sarah Kendal (SKendal) on: Class 5

We have had another busy week in Class 5!

In English, we have written some super playscripts based on the stories we wrote last week. We then transferred our knowledge to write playscripts in RE, for our parable puppet shows! Some groups performed their shows to the rest of the class.

In Maths, we have been solving word problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Some children were tasked with measuring children from different year groups to find out how our height changes as we get older. We used the data to work out mean averages. Excellent cross-curricular Science and Maths!

In DT, we taste-tested lots of different tropical fruits, some of which would have been eaten in Ancient Maya. Dragon fruit seemed to be a firm favourite, as did guava. Avocado and physalis had mixed reviews! There were some very interesting facial expressions being made!

Our outdoor learning team have been working very hard this week. They have cleaned out the pond, cleared an old flower bed and planted some more seeds to attract bees and butterflies. Amazing effort by all involved.

We had a rather ‘interesting’ show and tell in the classroom on Wednesday. Oscar brought in a snakeskin after his pet snake had finished shedding it (thankfully he left the snake at home!). Oscar answered some great questions and passed around the skin for everyone to feel.

Well done Class 5, another wonderful week… and the sun is still shining!

Have a lovely weekend.

The Year 5 Team xxx
