Week ending 18th March 2022

Posted: Mar 18, 2022 by: Sarah Kendal (SKendal) on: Class 5

How lovely to end the week with the sun shining and a blue sky above; let’s hope it stays for the weekend!

In Maths, we have revisited fractions, decimals and percentages. Some wonderful work and great understanding.

We started a new book in English, The Great Kapok Tree, and used it to write our own stories about humans in the rainforest. Our editing skills are getting better and better.

In RE, we listened to two parables from the Bible and we are now in the process of recreating the stories as puppet shows. Our classroom has been filled with felt, glue and pipe-cleaners (thankfully no glitter though).

Miss Monday helped us get creative with clay. We have been examining stelae, stone sculptures from the Ancient Maya civilisation, then designing and making our own.

As it has been Red Nose Day today, we held a class ‘nose and spoon’ race. It was lots of fun and the winner got to stand up in assembly.

A group of children have been working very hard in our lovely school grounds. They have been archaeologists, uncovering a butterfly sculpture that was built a long time ago and has been buried under grass, soil and moss for many years. They have also clipped back thorny bushes to make the area safer and even rebuilt some of the steps.

Another fabulous week. Well done Class 5!
