7th July - Tuesday with Mr C

Posted: Jul 6, 2020 by: Martin Clayton (MClayton) on: Class 5

Good morning Y5

This is going to be my final transition blog, so I'd like to remind you about the summer project - Shakespeare.
Shakespeare will be our topic, when we return, in September, with most things based around his life and works, and Britain during that period of history.
So... your topic is to research William Shakespeare. What can you find out about him? When did he live? Where did he live? Why is he so famous? You can present your topic however you wish. In a report/a PowerPoint/on a poster - I will let you decide. Some people might just do one side of A4 paper, some might do a lot more. Whatever you find out during the summer, will help you in September.
You can start the topic today, or in August... as long as you bring it in during the first week of the new school year.
Enjoy!

Here's a montage of activities that Libby has been getting up to over the last few weeks:

Fred's window project from last week.

Today, I would like you to have a go at a different activity.
One of the year 1 parents happened to mention to me that this summer was going to be wet - lots of rain. This is not good news - if he is correct?
So, how do we know?

I'd like you to research the weather. How do meteorologists make their predictions? How accurate are they? Does anyone check afterwards to see how successful different people are? Is BBC weather more trustworthy than the Met Office?

Write a report, based on your findings.

Finally, can you look into the weather for this summer? What is it going to be like? Will it be different in Yorkshire to Wales? Scotland? Cornwall?

I look forward to your findings.

Fingers crossed you have some good news.

As usual, I look forward to hearing from you. Your emails have been superb. I have been sent quite a few jokes, so... here are some:
