Monday 22nd June with Miss Aitken

Posted: Jun 21, 2020 by: Liam Kershaw (LKershaw) on: Class 5

Morning, Class 5. Mr. K here briefly. Today, I am handing over control of the blog to Miss Aitken who you all know as Isla. She has worked hard over the weekend to make lots of great activities for you. I'm sure she would love to see all your work, so make sure you send them into me. I have added the daily questions for English and maths. Enjoy!

Here are your daily grammar questions:

1.) Use some words in the sentence to make a contraction. Hint: Apostrophe!              I could not believe what was in front of me.

2.) Add a comma.       Since it is warm today we are going for a walk.

3.) Where is the adverb?   I nearly tripped over my own laces.

4.) What is wrong with this sentence?            The puppy looked at me and i couldn't stay mad.

5.) Where is the proper noun?   My uncle lives in Wales.

6.) Punctuate this:          from behind the tree the fox waited to pounce on the chicken.

7.) Where is the preposition?    I found my pen under the table.

8.) Add a suffix to this word to make it a noun.            manage           (Hint: there isn't just one answer.)

Mr. K here... I really like this maths task. I have the answers that Isla sent me, so I will publish them this afternoon. Here are your 10 maths questions from me:

1.) 693 X 39

2.) 7945 divided by 7

3.) 2/5 as a percentage

4.) Which 3D shape has a net of 6 squares?

5.) 50/70 as a fraction in its lowest form.

6.) What is the first prime number after 30?

7.) 66,000 divided by 110

8.) 4.597 minus 4/1000

9.) 75% as a decimal.

10.) 6 squared minus 2 cubed.

A big thank you to Isla for the blog takeover. It has been lovely to see all your ideas, and I am sure the class will love doing these tasks. Make sure you send your work into me, including your guesses for the answer to the riddle. I have the answer, which I will share this afternoon, along with the answers to the maths.

Enjoy your day, and if you need me, you know my email!
