So, this week you have written stories in a couple of different ways. You have used an image to inspire a story and you have also continued a story starter. Today, I am going to let you retell a famous story. You may change how the story goes, but the characters and the premise of the story should be the same.

Here is the challenge: you need to retell the story in only 3 paragraphs! This makes it slightly more tricky. My tip is not to get bogged down with trying to tell the story exactly in the same way as it has be told to you. Also, don't include too much speech.

You have a choice between which story you can retell:

1.) Goldilocks and the Three Bears

2.) The Three Little Pigs

3.) Little Red Riding Hood.

When you retell one of these stories, you need to make sure you focus on your description and vocabulary to make it sound interesting. If you just retell it simply, it will sound like a much younger person's piece of writing, and I want it to be the work of a Year 5 child.

So... you need to be using the Year 5 Exciting Sentences, and writing targets. This will make it sound like a more sophisticated piece of work. Don't forget to check your grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Competition time!

The story which I think retells one of the stories above the best, will win a prize. Now, I can't give you a prize like a raffle ticket can I? But... I thought a good prize would be that if your story gets chosen, you can win a  BLOG TAKEOVER! That is, that on Monday, I will let YOU choose what work we do on the blog.

The stories need to be emailed to be by Friday morning at 10am. I will then pick one and let you know by Friday at 1pm if you have won. You will then get to decide what we do on the blog on Monday. It does have to be work of some kind! Nothing to do with Xbox or PS4 or Tik Tok please!

Maths

We are going to look at fractions of amounts today in maths, or (if you remember) as I call them 'Esme's favourite!'. But, they will be less simple than just saying 2/3 of 30.

You will have to read the question carefully, as the question will be buried in a word problem.

There is a video and some information to read. Then, Gary Linekar is doing a fractions quiz with you. Yes, he really is! Finally, you have a sheet to do, which is actually fairly straightforward.

Topic (art/history)

Today, I am kind of going to give you a mystery task. You will need to research this man Hans Holbein the Younger. Make notes about him and then think about why I have asked you to research him for TOPIC. Remember our topic is We Are Britain and we are looking at kings and queens.

We will be doing some art inspired by him next week, so make sure you make notes about his life and his art work.

Email me in with your reasons why we are researching Hans Holbein the Younger.

PE

Keep active! No excuses! Mason and his mum and sister came to see me yesterday, and they have been going for a long walk nearly every day! Even when it is raining!
