Remote Learning Wednesday 29th April 2020

Hello Class 2. How are you feeling today? I hope you are OK, I know that some days are harder than others and we sometimes find it hard to get motivated. I find writing a list helps me to get things done, and also rewarding myself after each activity that I do - with a nice cup of tea or 10 minutes reading a magazine. Have you got any lockdown tips for your classmates? Perhaps you could comment on this blog with some advice?

So the suggested schedule for today is as follows...

E.R.I.C. - Everybody Reading in Class for 20 mins

Active time - Joe Wicks is showing a PE lesson at 9am or Go Noodle

Maths/Literacy - do this in batches of 20 mins each, build in breaks.

Maths

LO: Use coins to make amounts to at least £1

  • 45 + 46 =
  • 67 – 50 =
  • 8 + 21 + 9 =
  • 70 ÷ 10 =
  • Write seventeen in digits.
  • Partition 56 into 10s and 1s

OK, so today I’d like you to grab as much change (money) as you can! Please ask politely – don’t just pinch your adult’s spare change! Firstly, arrange your change into the different coins. Can you recognise all the different coins? Can you count how much change there is? How will you go about this? Do you need to write anything down or can you keep the numbers in your head? When you’ve used coins, remember to wash your hands really well. Now have a go at this:

I think you’ll like it!

What did you think to Mousehole? I would imagine it might be on your wish list of places to visit when we can! Now to the book, ‘The Mousehole Cat’ by Antonia Barber.

I’d like to introduce you to the main characters – Tom and his cat, Mowzer. Here’s the first picture in the book, it’s a beautiful illustration.

This week, I’d like you to describe this image in detail. Today we are going to create our own word bank to help us to do that. Use this word bank frame or create your own to start to think of words to use in your writing. Can you use a dictionary to find some new words that you’d like to use? Remember this is a brainstorming activity, so you might not use all your words when you come to write your description on Friday.

R.E.

I received many pictures of your RE work from last week. Your hands were beautiful with many lovely ideas about what you might want to pray for at this moment in time. This week, I’d like you to think about how Christians pray and what symbols help them to focus when they are praying. Have a chat about the question: do you need to go to church to pray? Have a look at this bbc clip about Christians and why they pray: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02q88sl Often people might use a candle to help them focus in prayer or meditation. With an adult, you might want to light a candle and at a safe distance, focus on the flame for a few minutes, think about the things you are grateful for at this time.

Here is the Lego challenge for the day. Remember to email us your creations! If you don't have Lego, don't worry any construction material will do. Good luck ...

Have you been in touch with me this week? If not, get emailing me at class2@netherthongprimary.co.uk or comment on the blog. I’ll be in touch if I don’t hear from you to see how you are.

Stay safe!

Mrs B xx
