24th June 2022

What an exciting week we have had here in Year One!

On Monday, we ventured out of school on our first ever school trip! We had a fantastic trip to YWP. We saw a wide range of animals from the baboons to the giant otters! All children represented the school brilliantly. I am incredibly proud of the children as they did a lot of walking and coped really well with the hot weather! Thank you to all the adults who came and helped. I hope everyone has a well deserved rest this weekend!

This week in our outdoor learning session, we thought about bees and wildflowers. We read a wonderful book called Omar, the Bees and ME  by Helen Mortimer which tells the story of a class of children in a city school involving the community to create a bee corridor of wild flowers. We enjoyed reading to each other in our shady reading area and got very creative constructing bee habitats and problem solving to find ways to fill our little pond to create a water source.

I hope you all have a lovekly weekend and get lots of rest after our busy week!
