A sunny week!

11th March 2022

This week, Class 1 have had a super time learning outside and enjoying the Spring Weather.  This is just as well as in Science we've been learning about spring and summer seasonal changes and the glorious weather has meant we've been able to get out there and experience it.  The children incorporated painting into Science this week, each painting different seasons in order to compare and contrast colours and other changes we'd expect to see.

Mrs Pearce was back this week for forest school, consolidating the Science learning and thinking about the changeable weather that we get in Spring! The children read My Friend the Weather Monster which is about a lonely monster up on a hill who controls the weather with his moods. They thought of some fantastic adjectives to describe the monster and his friend Tom and worked in teams to create wonderful collages using leaves, twigs, cherry stones and grass that we found in the woods and on the school field.

In History, the children have been introduced to the contenders for the throne, as we study the Battle of Hastings and discuss who should take over from Edward the Confessor!  Lots of discussion there and lots of opinions!

We've had a sporting week too with our Tag Rugby and Football in the sunshine, but some children also attended an additional session run by The Pennine Sports Partnership and supported by Year 5. They had lots of fun building their balancing and targeting skills!

Yesterday, of course, we turned school pink and it was fantastic to see all the children 'pretty in pink' and of course helping to raise valuable funds for Eden. Thank you for your support with this.

Don't forget to keep reading - make sure your child has set their Readathon target with you and is on with getting sponsorships and of course, achieving their target!
