What a wonderful week we have had!

14th January 2022

In art, we have been looking at artwork by Jean Metzinger and comparing this to artists we looked at in Reception, Monet and Van Gogh. This week we had a go at creating a piece of artwork inspired by Metzinger, using colouring pencils to carefully colour in each square to create a landscape. We used some realistic colours and some none-realistic colours, just like Metzinger. How fabulous they are!

In Science, class 1 are still investigating materials and learning their properties.  The children have been identifying materials in the classroom and extending their vocabulary by describing the properties.  They have loved making up a song about their chosen material's properties to the tune of Frere Jacques this week!  Their performances to the class were superb - what budding singers and brave year 1s we have!

This week the Snowdrop group found some snowdrops growing in the woods! There are just green shoots braving the cold at the moment but we will be keeping an eye on them and trying to predict when they will flower. We played lots of energetic games to keep us warm this week; we used our eyes and brains like a camera and pretended to be hungry birds hunting for worms in the forest!

Have a lovely weekend, everyone is working so hard!
