Remember, remember the 5th of November!

5th November 2021

What a brilliant first week back we have had! I would just like to say a massive thank you to all the support you are giving us at home, we can all really notice a difference in school!

In PE this half term with the sports coach, we started to look at handball. We developed our coordination and throwing and catching skills with partners before we moved on to work in groups of four to see how many catches we could do without dropping the ball. We found that if we had our hands ready to catch the ball and were looking at the person throwing the ball, we didn't drop the ball as much!

During our forest session this week, we read Room on the Broom. We enjoyed joining in with the story as the witch flew through wind and rain like we have had! We made brooms with sticks and twigs, carved wands using peelers and made some fantastic potions in our mud kitchen.

In history, as bonfire night was approaching, we have looked at the gunpowder plot. We discovered who was involved, why they plotted to kill the king and how the plot was stopped. We then sequenced the story in chronological order using pictures to help us remember, remember the 5th of November!

As you may have seen in the newsletter, we will be running a range of fun activities for the children during the week of the 15th November for Children in Need. If you are in a position to donate, we are asking this to be done online via this link. Please don't bring any money into school. Thank you!
