Deforestation 18.10.19

Posted: Oct 18, 2019 by: Greg Hobson (GHobson) on: Class 1

Hi all,

This week in geography, we discussed deforestation as a class. The children were very environmentally aware and felt very passionate about protecting the forests!

Reasons for the protection of woodland and rainforests varied from the output of oxygen to the protection of animals and habitats.

Amazingly, class one could also see that there were some valid reasons for deforestation. They came up with wood is needed for building materials, paper and fires. Also, forest land may be needed to build new houses or farms.

In pairs, the children made posters to show their view on deforestation.

Cheers,

Mr. H.
