Transition Tuesday - 30.6.2020

Posted: Jun 29, 2020 by: Zoe Watkins (ZWatkins) on: Class 3

Well, what a treat for me!  It is Transition Tuesday!  Mrs Kendal and myself are so excited for September and all it will bring.  I am especially excited to have you as a class, I have know you all since you began back in Reception!  Mrs Kendal is just as excited!  We will have such a fun year, as both Mrs K and myself love to have some fun, and a little hard work too!  What a shame that we can not get together in person before the end of the year, but will do our best to make our Transition Tuesdays fun.  I loved the work that you completed last week.  Picasso is one of my favourite artists, and I am sure you will all remember how much I love art!  Your All about Me posters and  Math's were super too. So on to this week, and please remember that these are only guideline of suggested activities, but it would be so lovely to hear from you all.

English:

So I know you always used to love a challenge.  Let's hope you still do.  Last week was National Literacy Week and there was a short writing challenge set.  The challenge asked you to write a story.  There are a few rules that you have to follow.  You are only to use 24 words and it must only take you 7 minutes!  The story must also begin "One Day..."  Not many rules to follow, but you must stick to them.  The link has a few videos to help you plan what you will write.  Obviously this is to only take you 7 minutes, so you might like to do more than one.  This is trickier than it sounds!

Maths:

Here is a Countdown Number challenge.  Again this is a link to an education web page with a game.  You will have to select 6 numbers and a total.  Then can you create the total using only the numbers you have selected?  It might not always be possible.  You could write down how you worked it out, and don't be frightened to ask a grown up to help (or even have a go)!  You must get the nearest number that you can.

Art:

Last week you learnt all about Picasso's wonderful painting - The Weeping Woman, and created some fantastic art work of your own.  Today, I would love for you to become "graffiti" artists.  You are going to create your name in large, bubble print letters, and then think about Picasso and his amazing use of colour and shapes.  Be bold and have fun with them.  You can use your favourite colours, add patterns or even use pictures inside the letters to help give us even more of an idea about you, what you love and what makes you, you!   Here are a few examples:

Mrs. McLain's Art Room - Graffiti Name Tags Middle school art ...    Connor graffiti name | Graffiti lettering, Doodle art drawing ...

I can't wait to see them!  If we get enough we might find a wall in the Year 4 classroom for them.

We are all really looking forward to hearing from you all.  I can't wait to see what you get up to!

Don't forget to email us on class4@netherthongprimary.co.uk

Keep smiling and keep safe.

Love Miss Watkins and the Year 4 Team
