Hello everyone!

I hope you've been having a brilliant time in this gorgeous hot weather.

Today is going to be hotter still I think, so I thought you needed some activities to cool you down!

Here we go.....

Science;

Here's a little extra Science job! Your challenge is to conduct an experiment to find out which flavour of homemade ice cube (or ice pop) is the tastiest. You may think you know which is your favourite but have you really tested it to see? Which do you predict will be the best? You could do a blind trial to see if you were correct; that means you'll need to make a selection and taste each one without looking. You could make some interesting new flavours! You might want to score them out of 10. It's up to you!

Send me a photo of you doing the experiment or send me your results!

Literacy;

As you'll be getting hot in the sun today, please could you either make your own healthy smoothie or fruit kebab.

I love smoothies and fruit kebabs so please can you write a list of instructions on how to make it.

Take care with your handwriting, spelling and punctuation!

Please take a photo to show me what you created!

Maths;

Here's a few problems for you to solve! Please can you write your calculations?

  1. If I made 27 orange ice cubes, 15 lemon ice cubes and 34 pineapple ice cubes, how many would I have made altogether?
  2. If I poured 5L 250ml water in the paddling pool and then added 3L 125mls more water how much would there be in the pool?
  3. I made 1L 750mls smoothie but then knocked over the jug and spilt 228mls. How much did I have then?
  4. Mum made a tasty pizza to eat at lunchtime in the garden. She cut it into 10 tenths. If Sophie had 2/10, Mia had 2/10, Alfie had 1/10 and Laurie had 2/10, how much would be left?
  5. If I made 32 tiny sandwiches and needed to share them out between 8 teachers, how many would they have each?
  6. If I made a 1 litre jug of juice and drank 400mls, how much would I have left?

Reading;

Make a cool den in the garden and spend a little time reading to Mum or Dad. You could put your favourite teddy/teddies in your den and read to them too. If you have a younger sister, brother or a pet they may want to listen too! Can you answer questions on your book?

Well, that's all folks!!

Enjoy your day and have lots of fun in the sun!

See you soon,

Mrs Matthews x
