Good morning Year 3!

How are you all? I have missed you all so much and can't wait to get back to posting my daily blogs to you! It has been a very difficult few weeks but I'm so pleased to say I do now feel so much better thanks to our absolutely amazing NHS; superstars, every single one of them! Miss Hemingway has thoroughly enjoyed working with you all once again and has told me how fabulously hard you have all been working. Thank you so much Miss Hemingway for all your wonderful hard work and also Miss Kelly who has been keeping a very close eye on me!!

Sorry Miss H here again with the updated baby guess who ...

Let's get going!!

P.E

Let's begin the day with some physical activity! If you are still enjoying your workouts on YouTube with Joe Wicks please join him at 09.00. These are fabulous workouts!

OR if you prefer, tune into your favourite song and create your own dance. If you have a sister or brother, create a synchronised routine. Once you have perfected it, send me a video via the class 3 email; I'd love to see your final versions!

Reading;

Sit quietly with an adult and read aloud to them, reminding them to ask you lots of questions about the text.

If you prefer, select one of your comprehensions in your pack and read it carefully, before answering the questions.

Literacy and Art;

I have been hearing that lots of you have really enjoyed taking care of your pets during 'lockdown'; some of you have been lucky enough to get a brand new pet! Poppy has really enjoyed having everyone at home; here's just one of the thousands of photos we have of her!

What I'd like you to do is to write a short information text all about your pet (if you have one), remembering to use a heading and sub-headings so that you create different 'paragraphs' of information. Your sub-headings might be, for example;

'Breed and description'

'Diet/food'

'Favourite toys'

'Treats'

'Toys'

'Exercise'

You might want to find out additional information about the breed of your pet using different sources too; for example from non-fiction texts or perhaps the internet (remember to have an adult with you when searching the net).

You can choose your own sub-headings, but do include lots of information and of course, remember to use exciting sentences and fabulous spelling and punctuation. Show me your best joined handwriting too!!!

Can you take a photo of your pet too and then also create a lovely matching picture too; use crayons, pastels, paints or whatever you prefer.

**If you don't have a pet, you could find out all about a pet you would choose if you could. Use information texts or the internet with an adult. Again you can find a picture and then create your own too.

Maths;

8 questions

1.  654 plus 228

2.  882 minus 257

3. Subtract 65 from 729

4. 525 more than 328

5. 30 greater than 245

6. 200 less than 687

7. 564 x 10

8. 4500 divided by 10

Problem; If Poppy had 10 bags of dog biscuits with 26 biscuits in each bag, how many biscuits would she have altogether?

Activity;

A couple of weeks ago we were timing how long it would take different people in your family to do different activities. Today I'd like you to have a go at comparing the lengths of time taken for other activities (see the sheet below). Remember there are 60 seconds in a minute so if one activity took 59 seconds and one took 1 minute and 2 seconds, the first activity would be the shortest/quickest. Here's the activity I'd like you to try so you can practise comparing times taken. You may need to use a subtraction calculation if it asks you how much longer or shorter an activity took (because you'll be finding the difference).

Select just A or B (only select C if you prefer or need an extension);

Have fun and remember not to stress at all about your work; do as much as you can but do take lots of breaks! Keep enjoying those lovely walks, playing games and enjoying being together!

Remember to email me each week and send me photos of yourselves, your pets or some of the activities you have been doing. Don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any concerns or questions too.

Take special care of yourselves!

Will tune in again tomorrow!
