Hi everyone, I hope you are enjoying all the VE day work so far this week!  Our celebrations might be different to the planned ones, but they will still celebrate this 75 anniversary.  We had a sponsored walk planned and there was going to be a party on our village green.  We are still going to go on our walk, but just as a family and 2 dogs.

English - I have set a 2Do on Purple Mash for you to have a go at.

You have been busy writing invitations and menus.  Can you hear my tummy rumble?  Today I thought we would think a little bit about poetry.  I have attached two poems written by the same lady, but 60 years apart.

Poetry

They are all about the VE day celebrations back in 1945 and 60 years later.  Have a read of them both.  I wondered if you could have a go at writing a poem about VE day this year?  It could be in a similar style or you could have a go at thinking of another style of poetry - acrostics or shape poetry.  It doesn't need to rhyme either, but it can if you wish.  Sometimes rhymes can make it harder to write.  You could have a go a learning one of the poems or record yourself reading it out loud. It would  be lovely to hear your voices.

Maths - TTRockstars - The tournament is still going.  The girls are storming ahead at the moment.  When I last looked Daisy had the same score on her own as the boys had altogether.  Come on lads keep going!

Today I thought that you could have a go at battleships to help with your coordinates.  Here are the instructions for you.  You could play someone in your house or possibly Zoom someone to play against!

PE - I hope that you are all keeping up with your PE or some sort of physical activity  We are trying our best here.  During the war dance was an important part of socialising and lots of people (Male and female) did dance.  I remembered seeing this style of dance a number of years ago and thought that you could have a look at some of it.  I might even have shown you at school.  The style of dance is the Lindy hop.  With a little help maybe you could find a clip of it to watch.  You could try to learn a few of the basic steps and kicks - maybe not the jumps and tricks!

Geography - As it was Victory in Europe Day, I thought that you could do a little reminder of the countries of Europe.  Can you find out which countries they are, find them on a map and then you could find the name of the capital cities.

Well done you amazing lot!  Keep smiling and carry on!

Miss you all lots

Love Miss W and the Year 4 team
