Paddington at the Palace!
admin on: Class 1
18.10.18
This week in class one, we have been studying Paddington at the Palace! The children have listened intently to story and can tell you all sorts of information about Buckingham Palace! Following on from this, we imagined it was us going for a day out. What does the palace look like? What would you do if you were invited into the palace? These are just a few of the questions the class considered before writing their very own ‘A day at the palace’!

This week in class one, we have been extremely busy! We started our week writing a news report regarding a certain giant lion who was giving children tours of London. Some children even managed to use a green screen and be transported to Trafalgar Square!
We are busy learning different techniques for addition and are using lots of equipment in maths. We have used

Hi all,
Volunteers
It would be extremely useful if anyone can come in and help out around the school and in class one. We are looking for volunteers to come in to read with children, practice phonics and all-around support the learning. Anyone who has any time whether it be great or small, let myself or Mrs. Cooper know.
Homework
Homework is now fully set up in class one. This will come in four different formats.
A. Spelling shed
Spelling shed is an online app that the children can use independently to further their phonics and spelling knowledge. This will be updated weekly (usually on Fridays) to match our theme of study in school. The children seem to really enjoy using this learning resource!
B. IXL
IXL login details are now stuck to the covers of reading record books. This is another online resource, but this time in support of maths. This will be updated regularly with topics that we are approaching or covering at the time in class.
C. Schofield and Simms booklets
Schofield and Simms mental arithmetic booklets are now in book bags. Please complete sections throughout the year as directed from here on the blog.
D. Reading
Please try to read with your child as much as you can. Remember to write in reading record books too, as we will not change books that have not been read at home.
The four methods of homework will overlap, but don't let this stress you out! It is more about finding interesting and different ways to further study at home and less about having it done by a certain day!
Thank you all for your ongoing support!
Have a great weekend!
